"Sparkles the Clown" first appeared in 1997 when
Terry Donaldson was asked to return to Tracy's Fourth of July Parade after
rollerblading as "Lady Liberty" the previous year. She donned a clown
costume and pretended she did not know how to rollerblade . . . falling on a
pillow tied around her fanny . . . legs flying in the air. She was an
instant hit! (Ouch!)
Thrilled with the response of those attending the parade and festivities,
Terry immediately knew, at age 47, what she wanted to be when she grew up!
She attended clown school and launched her new career as "Miss Sparkles
Delight," often shortened to "Sparkles the Clown."
She is a
professional, full-time clown, having entertained at over 3,472 events as of
mid-June 2008. Sparkles the Clown has been delighting hundreds of thousands
of children of all ages at Birthday Parties, Library Functions, Company
Picnics, Grand Openings, Weddings, Family Reunions, High School Class
Reunions, Restaurants, Festivals, Parades, Carnivals, Holiday Parties,
School Assemblies, Churches, Pre-schools, Trade Fairs, Farmers Markets,
County Fairs, Hospitals and Nursing Homes, and various fundraisers, etc.
In 1997, she attended classes at San Francisco School of Circus Arts and
Concord School of Clownology. Miss Sparkles Delight is a member of Clowns of
America International (COAI), World Clown Association (WCA) and Western
Region Clown Association (WRCA).
On September 6, 2004, Sparkles married Ravioli the Clown at a mock-wedding
fundraiser for Tracy Interfaith Ministries. Then, five weeks later, on
October 16th, 2004, they married for real as real people -Terry Donaldson
and Denis Martinez!
Now an award-winning clown! At the Western Region Clown Association
Convention held in Laughlin, Nevada in November 2006, Sparkles was
encouraged to compete. She entered three of the many categories and placed
in all three! She proudly displays plaques recognizing a 2nd Place in Skits
as an Individual, 3rd Place in Clown Make Up as a Character and 3rd Place in
Paradability. Be sure to check out
